I’m Not There!

I just went on an amazing cinematic adventure.  After a morning full of cleaning my house for our family’s New Year’s Eve party, I sat down with my dad and watched the 2007 film, I’m Not There.  The film tells the story of world renowned singer Bob Dylan.  However, what makes the movie so innovative is the fact that six different actors portray Dylan in various stages throughout his life.

I must say, while the storyline is, at times, a bit difficult to follow, I found the entire film very enjoyable! I highly recommend you sitting down and watching this movie.  For a sneak peak, take a look at the following trailer:

Rockin’ Around…

Credit Where Credit Is Due

I can’t continue posting blogs without first giving a very important person credit.  Yes, obviously God plays a huge part in it all.  But there’s a girl out there who’s provided more than just a kind word.

Sara Willard has provided a lot of the pictures you see on Fondly Phil, including many of those on the new Christmas banner! (Take a look)

Sara and I sing together in the Praise Team at the church we attend, and I cannot begin to tell you all how blessed I’ve been to know her.  The conversations about faith and her outlook on life, make her a one in a million.  So THANK YOU Sara!  Not just for the countless pictures you let me mootch off of your Facebook, but for your support.

You can get another glimpse of Sara by visiting her blog, Beauty in the Breakdown, by clicking here!

A View Through the Lense

For those of you who may still be snowed in, and even for those who aren’t, I’ve got a treat for you!  A good friend of mine, Amy Gwaltney, is an aspiring photographer and fellow SMAD student at JMU.  I’ve known Amy for about a year now, and I can honestly say her talent behind the camera is truly God-given.

Amy Gwatlney

Recently, Amy and I set out to downtown Harrisonburg and I got the opportunity to “pose” for some shots.  Amy’s creativity took off and the rest is history.  Check out her website, Amy Nicole Photography, and be amazed by the moments she’s been able to capture.  Also, take a look at her most recent blog post (click here) for pictures from our afternoon outing.

As always, stay safe and God bless!

Hide & Seek

Picture this!  You’re seven years old and bored out of your mind.  So you run across the street to your friend’s house, and start up a neighborhood game of Hide-and-go-Seek.  This is something we can all relate to…but this post has nothing to do with that!

For my SMAD 302 final project, I was required to produce/direct a 3-7 minute music video.  Thanks to my two partners, Chris and Remie, I was able to turn in the finished product this morning.  We spent a lot of time filming and editing, but the finished product turned out amazing!  My best friend, Jay, made another starring role in the video which helped us out so much.  So take a look at our SMAD 302 Music Video, featuring the song Hide & Seek, by Imogen Heap.

Hope you enjoyed!

Fondly,

Phil

Ode To The Nice Guys

The following post was written for the Wharton Undergraduate Journal.

This is a tribute to the nice guys. The nice guys that finish last, that never become more than friends, that endure hours of whining and bitching about what assholes guys are, while disproving the very point. This is dedicated to those guys who always provide a shoulder to lean on but restrain themselves to tentative hugs, those guys who hold open doors and give reassuring pats on the back and sit patiently outside the changing room at department stores. This is in honor of the guys that obligingly reiterate how cute/beautiful/smart/funny/sexy their female friends are at the appropriate moment, because they know most girls need that litany of support. This is in honor of the guys with open minds, with laid-back attitudes, with honest concern. This is in honor of the guys who respect a girl’s every facet, from her privacy to her theology to her clothing style.

A Must See!

Sorry for my recent absence in blogging, but I’ve been ridiculously busy getting ready for my show that opens Friday night.  Anyhow, I recieved an email this morning from my best friend’s Dad, Don Cherry.

In the email, I found alink to video promoting breast cancer awarness.  Emily Somers, created, directed and choreographed this in Portland last week for her Medline glove division as a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness.  This was all her idea to help promote their new pink gloves.  I don’t know how she got so many employees, doctors and patients to participate, but it started to really catch on.

When the video gets 1 million hits, Medline will be making a huge contribution to the hospital, as well as offering free mammograms for the community.  Please check it out.  It’s an easy and great way to donate to a wonderful cause, and who hasn’t been touched by breast cancer?
